(with Bhejane 4 x 4 Adventures)

Unlock the secrets of the magical Knysna Forest along the Garden Route on this professionally guided   4 x 4 adventure over a full day which will take you into the Diepwalle Forest where you will uncover the legends behind author Dalene Matthee's phantom elephants, the Italian settlers, lost travellers and many more.  This forest adventure includes a visit to the SANParks Forest Museum and a delicious picnic lunch.

The Knysna Forest is a place of myth and mystery, of phantom elephants, Italian settlers and lost travellers who roam as depicted in the popular novels by Dalene Mathee.  Situated close to Plettenberg Bay and Knysna, our modern day adventure starts in the Diepwalle Forests, the area most frequented by the Knysna elephants and continues through tunnels of Yellow woods, Cape Chestnuts, Stinkwoods and Bracken ferns.  Until recently, this highly protected ecosystem has only been accessible by foot or mountain mike.  Bhejane 4 x 4 Adventures recently obtained permission to explore this ancient forest of Giant Yellow woods and ancient lichens, taking every precaution to respect and preserve this unique conservation area.  Along the way our guides will share their wealth of knowledge with you, revealing the rich history and intricate ecosystems which make the Knysna Forest such a magical place.  En route we will stop at one of the Fynbos islands where we will enjoy a cup of tea or coffee as you take in the magnificent views and calls of the forest.  The new SANParks Forest Museum will be our final stop before we end the tour with a traditional lunch prepared by the local community at the Diepwalle Forestry station.

Please note: this route remains off limits to anyone other than SANParks and forestry vehicles
